When Flint residents turn on their taps, only lead-contaminated water comes through. Water, that according to EPA criteria, can be classified as toxic waste. This has been the case for over a year.  Yet, Flint residents are charged as if the water is drinkable. Outrageously, Flint residents - living in one of the most economically depressed areas of the state - often receive $200+ water bills per month.  And if they don't pay?  Shut-off notices.

This is outrageous!  Enough with the insult to grievous injury.  Flint residents should not have to pay for poisoned water. Flint residents should be refunded for this past year of water service.  No more shut-offs. No more poisoned water!

We call on Gov. Snyder to:

1.     Stop charging Flint residents for water until it is safe.

2.     Refund Flint residents for past months of poisoned water.

3.     Refund Flint residents for money spent on filters and bottled water during this crisis.

I write you as a native of Michigan. But I also write you as an American fully aware that this could happen anywhere in our country.  Where are we without clean water? Where are we when our government can poison our water and keep us paying for it? We must keep paying attention and keep asking questions of Gov. Rick Snyder and his administration. They would like nothing more than the hot glare of attention to turn elsewhere.
