Defend Our Elections

We need ALL OF US to join in the work to call forth a new political reality where there is enough common ground to continue to build on the legacies of justice movements in which UU the Vote is rooted. Recognizing that the stakes are different, especially for people targeted by white supremacy & capitalism, we all must discern our role and rise to the moral call of this moment.

We must do all that we can–the risky, the uncomfortable, the loving, the caring, and even the mundane and ordinary actions to move forward towards our collective liberation. Right now, that means showing up to make sure everyone can vote safely and that every vote gets counted.

Join UU the Vote in the critical phase to defend our elections.

I can show up to protect our democracy!

The calls for support and action will happen quickly. We must be ready to respond to defend democracy and show up to support front-line communities. Get yourself and your congregation ready to respond and offer care, respite, and solidarity!

Join Election Defenders to get training in roles ranging from creative action planning, de-escalation, and how best to protect ballot counting processes.

I am clergy and can show up to high priority areas to witness and de-escalate. When you sign up for Election Defenders, check the box for “I am a faith/spiritual leader in my community”.

I can engage in asset mapping of my congregation, so that we are prepared to share our resources generously and nimbly when needs arise. Check out our Asset Mapping Tool and this video about how to engage the process.

I can share critical information and amplify our calls to count every vote on social media. Sign up to join to fight disinformation, amplify demands to count every ballot, and make sure folks access accurate information in the critical days ahead.

My congregation can offer respite and PPE at our building. Sign up to join the congregations that are supporting democracy by being a safe and secure landing place for voters, volunteers, and activists on and after November 3rd.

I can call UU the Vote volunteers to offer pastoral care. In this moment we must practice care and build spiritual resilience to continue our work. Sign up to be a UU the Vote Chaplain. Training provided.

My congregation can offer faithful witness at the polls. Watch our 30-minute webinar for ideas on how to offer a faithful, joyful, and grounded presence at the polls.
